Finding the best brokers in the Czech Republic can feel daunting, particularly if you’re just getting started (we’ve been in your shoes!).

In this article, we provide a detailed look at what we consider the best online brokers in the Czech Republic in 2026. Whether you’re new to investing and looking for a user-friendly platform, or want exposure to a wider range of investment options (ETFs, cryptocurrencies, CFDs, and more), there’s an option here for you.

One important consideration for Czech investors is the country’s tax framework. The Czech Republic taxes investment income at 15% (23% on the part of total income above CZK 1,762,812 in 2026). Gains on securities held for more than three years are exempt under the time test (časový test), and from 2026 the CZK 40 million cap on that exemption no longer applies to securities. Foreign dividends can be taxed at a flat 15% in a separate tax base, and foreign withholding tax (for example, 15% on US dividends under the Czech-US tax treaty) can usually be credited against the Czech liability. Most foreign brokers don’t withhold Czech tax at source, so Czech residents report investment income in their annual tax return (daňové přiznání). We summarise the main rules in a table further down.

Interactive Brokers leads the list as one of the best online brokers for Czech investors.

Founded in 1978, Interactive Brokers is one of the largest international brokers, with more than 5.5 million client accounts (September 2026), listed on NASDAQ (ticker: IBKR). It’s regulated by multiple international top-tier authorities, with no minimum deposit requirement. Czech investors are served by Interactive Brokers Ireland Ltd, regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) and passported into the Czech Republic. IBKR’s former Budapest entity, which used to serve Central European clients, was merged into the Irish entity.

IBKR caters to both beginners and professional investors looking for any type of financial product (stocks, ETFs, bonds, options, futures, forex, commodities, and more), with an easy-to-use platform, advanced technical and fundamental trading tools, and strong educational resources.

Interactive Brokers runs multi-currency accounts (29 currencies, including CZK, EUR, USD, and GBP), and account funding is via bank transfer. Its tiered pricing scales with monthly trading volume, and a single account gives access to 170 markets in 40 countries, including the Prague Stock Exchange (BCPP) since June 2023 (0.15% commission, minimum CZK 70), major US exchanges, Frankfurt/Xetra, and most European and Asian markets.

For investors who prefer to trade on the go, IBKR offers the IBKR Mobile app, providing convenience and advanced functionality. IBKR GlobalTrader is another mobile app designed for simple, accessible global trading, with fractional shares from $1, automatic currency conversions, and a paper trading mode. It is well suited to newer investors easing into the IBKR ecosystem.

On the downside, IBKR’s main platforms (Trader Workstation, IBKR Desktop, Client Portal) can feel overwhelming if you’re new to investing. Fortunately, IBKR offers extensive educational materials and video tutorials, and GlobalTrader provides a smoother entry point for beginners.

One important consideration for Czech residents: IBKR doesn’t withhold Czech tax at source. Czech residents handle their own annual tax declaration (daňové přiznání) for investment income, applying the 15% personal income tax rate (with potential exemption on capital gains for securities held over three years under the time test). IBKR provides comprehensive year-end statements that can be used to support your filing, and the broker also auto-applies the 15% reduced US dividend withholding rate under the Czech-US tax treaty when you file a W-8BEN form during onboarding.

52% of retail CFD accounts lose money.

Another excellent trading platform for Czech investors is eToro, an international online broker with more than 40 million registered users and 4.28 million funded accounts (end of Q2 2026), offering stocks, ETFs, real cryptocurrencies, and CFDs on forex, commodities, and indices. Czech clients are served by eToro (Europe) Ltd, regulated by CySEC, which also holds a MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation) licence for its crypto services. It went public on NASDAQ (ticker: ETOR) in May 2025, a notable credibility milestone. eToro is best known for its social trading feature, which lets you copy the trades of other experienced investors. There are thousands of verified traders on eToro, and you can choose who to follow based on past Return on Investment (ROI), risk profile, and other factors.

The eToro platform gives users access to thousands of financial instruments, including stocks and ETFs across major US and European exchanges (including Frankfurt/Xetra and other major markets). Users can also invest in Smart Portfolios, ready-made baskets that combine multiple assets or top traders around a particular theme or strategy.

eToro offers commission-free ETF trading in the Czech Republic. Stock trades carry a $1 or $2 commission, depending on the market. Czech investors can now open and fund their account in EUR directly, avoiding the FX conversion costs that previously applied for non-USD users. Note that CZK is not yet supported as a base currency, so funding in CZK still triggers an FX conversion to EUR or USD.

Opening an account is straightforward and fully digital, and you can practise with a free demo account ($100,000 in virtual funds) before committing real money. On the downside, spreads can be wider on some products than at specialist brokers, withdrawals from a USD account carry a $5 fee with a $30 minimum (withdrawals from a local-currency account such as EUR are free), and like other foreign brokers, eToro doesn’t withhold Czech tax at source, Czech residents handle their own 15% personal income tax reporting through the annual daňové přiznání (with the 3-year time test exemption potentially applicable on long-held capital gains).

51% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider. You should consider whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.

XTB also offers other financial products including commodities and cryptocurrencies (through CFDs). Spreads on crypto CFDs are on the higher side, while forex spreads are competitive. XTB pays interest on uninvested cash (1.25% a year on CZK balances on the standard rate as of September 2026, variable, with higher promotional rates for some clients). Investing involves risk of loss.

Founded in 2008 in Amsterdam (with retail services launched in 2013), DEGIRO is a low-cost brokerage that has become one of the most popular options across Europe thanks to its competitive pricing. With 3.66 million customer accounts across the flatexDEGIRO group (first half of 2026), DEGIRO is widely known for its “do-it-yourself” philosophy, giving you the tools to invest on your own without high-touch advisory services. For Czech investors, DEGIRO runs a Czech-language website (degiro.cz) and gives access to the Prague Stock Exchange (CZK 20 plus a CZK 10 handling fee per order).

DEGIRO offers a wide range of financial assets including stocks, ETFs, bonds, options, futures, warrants, investment funds, and some leveraged products (not the same as CFDs, more details here). ETFs from the Core Selection list have no commission, only a €1 handling fee, while other ETFs cost €2 plus the €1 handling fee. There is no minimum deposit. The web and mobile platforms are straightforward and easy to use, you’ll get comfortable with them within minutes.

On the downside, fundamental research is limited, US stock trades cost €1 plus a €1 handling fee, an exchange connectivity fee of up to €2.50 per year applies for each foreign exchange you trade on (Prague is free), and currency conversions through AutoFX cost 0.25%. DEGIRO doesn’t offer forex trading, and its crypto offering is only available in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, France, and Spain, not in the Czech Republic.

DEGIRO dashboard

On safety, DEGIRO operates as the Dutch branch of flatexDEGIRO Bank SE, a German-regulated bank supervised by BaFin and the Deutsche Bundesbank, alongside Dutch regulators (DNB and AFM). In the unlikely event that segregated client assets cannot be returned, DEGIRO falls under the German Investor Compensation Scheme, which compensates losses up to 90% with a maximum of €20,000 per investor, worth keeping in mind for larger portfolios. Additionally, any cash held on a DEGIRO Cash Account with flatexDEGIRO Bank SE is protected up to €100,000 under the German Deposit Guarantee Scheme.

For Czech residents: DEGIRO doesn’t withhold Czech tax at source, so you handle your own 15% personal income tax reporting through the annual daňové přiznání (with the 3-year time test exemption potentially applicable on long-held capital gains). DEGIRO does provide annual tax reports that simplify the reporting process.

On Plus500 Invest, it charges a small commission per trade (US market: $0.006 per share).

Finally, it is regulated by financial regulators like the FCA and CySEC, meaning that Plus500 is appropriately supervised and that there is an investor protection scheme under the entity in which you open an account. For instance, when you open an account as a Czech investor through Plus500CY Ltd, you are protected up to €20,000. 62% of retail CFD accounts lose money.

Launched in 1992 in Copenhagen, Saxo is one of the most established financial entities in the brokerage industry, with a track record spanning over three decades. It lets you trade more than 71,000 financial instruments through its SaxoTrader platforms, plus the simpler SaxoInvestor app for beginners.

The product range across global markets includes stocks, ETFs, bonds, mutual funds, options, futures, CFDs, forex, and commodities. Saxo provides advanced research tools suited to both “buy-and-hold” investors and active leverage-based traders. Ownership has changed recently: the Swiss private banking group J. Safra Sarasin agreed in March 2025 to buy a majority stake, completed the purchase of about 71% on 2 March 2026, and in July 2026 agreed to buy the remaining 28.69% from founder Kim Fournais, subject to regulatory approval.

Czech residents are served by Saxo Bank A/S, organizační složka, the Prague branch of the Danish bank. Saxo’s account tiers are:

  • Classic: no minimum deposit since 2024, giving access to competitive spreads and customer support 24/5.
  • Platinum: €200,000 minimum, lower trading prices and priority support.
  • VIP: €1,000,000 minimum, best pricing, direct access to trading experts, and exclusive event invitations.
SaxoTraderGo dashboard

Pricing varies by account tier. A US stock order costs 0.08% of trade value (from $1) in Classic, 0.05% in Platinum, and 0.03% in VIP. For accounts holding stocks, ETFs, ETCs (exchange traded commodities), or bonds, a custody fee of 0.15% a year applies in Classic (0.12% in Platinum and 0.09% in VIP), waived if you activate securities lending. Currency conversions cost 0.25%.

Saxo Bank A/S is a fully licensed European bank under the supervision of the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finanstilsynet). It’s a member of the Danish Guarantee Fund (Garantiformuen), which protects client cash deposits up to €100,000 and securities up to €20,000 per client. As a licensed bank rather than an investment firm, Saxo is subject to banking capital and liquidity rules.

Saxo doesn’t withhold Czech tax at source, so Czech residents handle their own 15% personal income tax reporting through the annual daňové přiznání (with the 3-year time test exemption potentially applicable on long-held capital gains). Saxo does provide comprehensive year-end statements that simplify the reporting process.

Pros

How to choose the best broker in the Czech Republic

Picking the right broker is important for a smooth long-term investing experience. Here are the key factors to weigh up:

  • Regulation: look for brokers regulated by trusted authorities (CNB if Czech-licensed, or top-tier EU regulators like BaFin, FCA, CySEC, CBI via passporting). Most foreign brokers serving Czech clients do so via EU passporting under MiFID II. Check the investor protection framework, typically €20,000-€22,000 under the relevant Investor Compensation Fund, or up to €100,000 cash protection for licensed banks.
  • Czech-language support and CZK accounts: a meaningful Czech-specific factor. XTB and Saxo have Prague branches, and XTB offers CZK accounts. DEGIRO has a Czech-language website, and Interactive Brokers lets you hold CZK balances. With brokers that only offer EUR or USD accounts, every CZK deposit and withdrawal involves a currency conversion.
  • Fees and commissions: compare trading commissions, FX conversion fees, custody fees, withdrawal fees, and inactivity fees. Lower all-in costs compound meaningfully over decades.
  • Trading platforms: a clean, reliable platform (web + mobile) matters for long-term users. Try the demo account before committing where available.
  • Financial instruments: make sure the broker covers the asset classes you actually want, stocks, ETFs, bonds, options, futures, crypto, plus access to the exchanges you care about (Prague Stock Exchange (BCPP), Frankfurt/Xetra, US markets, Warsaw).
  • Customer support: Czech-language support if that matters to you; otherwise, multi-channel English support with responsive turnaround times.
  • Reputation and track record: check independent reviews, Trustpilot ratings, regulatory history, and how long the broker has been operating. A long track record gives you more history to judge a broker by.
  • Tax handling and reporting: all foreign brokers require Czech residents to file their own annual daňové přiznání for investment income. Look for brokers that provide comprehensive, well-formatted year-end statements, Interactive Brokers, Saxo, and DEGIRO score particularly well here. Remember the Czech time test: gains on securities held for more than 3 years are generally exempt.

By weighing up these factors, you can pick the broker that best matches your investment goals and tax-reporting preferences.

Which entity serves Czech clients

None of the brokers in this list holds a Czech licence of its own. They serve Czech residents from another EU country under MiFID II passporting, in some cases through a Czech branch. The entity matters because it sets which regulator supervises your account and which investor compensation scheme applies if the broker fails.

Czech taxes on investments in 2026
