eToro is a multi-asset investment platform. The value of your investments may go up or down. Your capital is at risk. You will never lose more than the amount invested in each position.

One of the best trading platforms in France is eToro, an international online broker with over 40 million registered users and 4.28 million funded accounts (June 2026), who trade stocks, ETFs, cryptocurrencies and CFDs on stocks, ETFs, commodities, Forex and indices. It is known for its social trading feature, where you can copy the trades of other traders.

The eToro platform gives users access to thousands of financial instruments, including stocks and ETFs. Additionally, users can invest in ready-made investment portfolios (Smart Portfolios), a group of several assets or traders combined based on a theme or strategy.

eToro’s biggest strength is its zero commissions on ETFs, making it a cost-effective way for European investors to build a diversified portfolio. However, it’s no longer completely commission-free, with most stock trades costing $1, and trades on Australia, Hong Kong, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi exchanges costing $2 per trade.

Opening an account and depositing is easy, and you can even try it out with virtual money (a demo account). On the downside, spreads can be high for some products.

eToro is fully regulated and supervised by top-tier regulators such as the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) in Australia. French clients are served by eToro (Europe) Ltd, authorised and regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC).

Another exceptional trading platform in France is Interactive Brokers. Founded in 1978 and listed on NASDAQ (ticker: IBKR), Interactive Brokers is a global online broker with more than 5.5 million client accounts (September 2026) that has come through major financial crises, showing resilience and a rigorous risk management process. French clients are served by Interactive Brokers Ireland Ltd, regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland.

Interactive Brokers offers an advanced investment platform that includes a wide range of products (stocks, options, mutual funds, ETFs, futures, bonds, and currencies) from 170 markets in 40 countries, solid trade execution (IB SmartRouting), and a set of technical and fundamental tools to help you in your investment decisions.

Beginners and intermediate investors have educational tools to explore, but the learning curve will be steep. Besides, customer service gives clear answers to your doubts, so there is no need to go back and forth.

On the downside, Interactive Brokers’ fee structure is quite complex, the registration process is lengthy (but fully online), and the broker doesn’t offer commission-free trading. However, when considering FX fees, narrower spreads, and the stock loan program, Interactive Brokers’ clients still get significant savings compared to most brokers.

Interactive Brokers also launched IBKR GlobalTrader, a modern mobile trading app to trade stocks, ETFs, and options, which is ideal for beginner investors. Some of the features of IBKR GlobalTrader include automatic currency conversions, fractional shares, and a demo account.

Investing involves risk of loss.

Founded in Amsterdam in 2008 and open to retail investors since 2013, DEGIRO is a low-cost broker. With 3.66 million customer accounts across the flatexDEGIRO group (June 2026), the innovative platform has become widely known for its “do-it-yourself” philosophy in the sense that you have everything at your disposal to start investing on your own. It offers a wide range of financial assets to trade, including stocks, ETFs, bonds, options, futures contracts, warrants, investment funds, and some leveraged products (not quite the same as CFDs. More info here).

For instance, ETFs from the Core Selection list have no commission, only a €1 handling fee, and there is no minimum deposit. French clients can also buy crypto on DEGIRO. The web trading platform is basic, but it is efficient and straightforward to use. In a matter of minutes, you get used to it. Which platform should you choose?

Consider various factors when selecting an online broker, including fees, regulatory compliance with top-tier institutions like the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) in France, and the variety of tradable products.
