What is the Lightyear UK promo code?
INVESTINGINTHEWEBUK is our promo code for new Lightyear customers in the UK. You enter it when you sign up, or within 15 days of signing up, and it unlocks one free fractional share or ETF once you meet the deposit condition.
The offer is run by Lightyear UK Ltd under its UK sign-up promotion terms, in force since 1 September 2026. We checked the terms and the UK reward page on 3 November 2026.
Our main Lightyear promo code “INVESTINGINTHEWEB” also works in the UK and gives the same reward. You can only redeem one code.

How to use the code, step by step
- Open Lightyear’s sign-up page through this link and create your account.
- Enter INVESTINGINTHEWEBUK during onboarding. If you skip this step, you can still add it in the app under Profile, Settings, Promotions, as long as you signed up within the last 15 days.
- Complete onboarding and open a GIA if your first account is an ISA.
- Deposit at least £100 within 15 days.
- Claim the pending reward in the Portfolio tab and choose your fractional share or ETF.
Your choice is placed as a market order. It cannot be changed or cancelled, so check the instrument before you confirm. If the market is closed, the order is filled when it opens.
How much will you get?
The value of the reward is random. Lightyear places you in one of four groups and then picks an amount inside that group:
| Probability | Minimum (£) | Maximum (£) |
| 80% | 10 | 20 |
| 15% | 21 | 50 |
| 3% | 51 | 75 |
| 2% | 76 | 100 |
Personal account reward odds from the Lightyear UK sign-up promotion terms, valid from 1 September 2026. Lightyear notes that actual awards may differ from these weightings.
So 4 in 5 users get between £10 and £20, and only 2 in 100 land in the top group of £76 to £100. Taking the middle of each group, the average works out at about £21. That figure is our own estimate from the table.
If the share you pick trades in another currency, the standard 0.1% FX fee comes out of the reward. On a £15 reward that is 1.5p.
GIA or ISA: where does the reward go?
You can use the code when opening a GIA or a Stocks and Shares ISA, but the share is always credited to a GIA. If you only open an ISA, you will not receive it until you also open and verify a GIA.
This matters for tax. Gains and income inside the GIA fall outside your ISA wrapper, so the reward may be subject to Capital Gains Tax when sold. Tax depends on your circumstances and may change.
What can make you lose the reward?
The terms set three conditions you need to meet:
- Minimum funding for 6 months: from the day you receive the reward, you must maintain net funding (deposits minus withdrawals and outward transfers) of at least the qualifying deposit plus the value of the reward. Market moves do not count against you, but withdrawals do. If you fall below that level, Lightyear reclaims the reward’s original value.
- 6-month lock on the reward: you cannot withdraw it or transfer it to another provider during that period. If you sell the share, the lock still applies to a sum equal to the reward’s original value.
- One promotion per customer: using several accounts, including through family members or other people, can lead to disqualification and removal of the reward.
The simplest way to keep the reward is to leave your money with Lightyear for the full 6 months. Lightyear can also amend or withdraw the promotion at any time without notice, so confirm the terms before you sign up.

Is the Lightyear UK promo code worth it?
If you already plan to invest with Lightyear, yes: you lose nothing by entering the code, and £100 is a low bar to reach. Do not open an account only for the reward. A £10 to £20 share is a small gain next to the fees and features you will live with for years, so compare platforms first. Our best online stock brokers in the UK guide is a good starting point, and our Broker Bonus tool lists the offers from other platforms.
Bottom line
INVESTINGINTHEWEBUK gives new UK customers a free fractional share or ETF worth £10 to £100. You need to deposit at least £100 within 15 days and keep your funding in place for 6 months. In 80% of cases the reward is worth £10 to £20, and it lands in your GIA.

FAQs
Are there any current Lightyear promo codes for the UK?
Yes. INVESTINGINTHEWEBUK was active when we last checked on 3 November 2026, and INVESTINGINTHEWEB also works in the UK. You can only redeem one of them.
Can I use the code if I already have a Lightyear account?
Only if you signed up within the last 15 days and have not redeemed another code. Add it in the app under Profile, Settings, Promotions. Once a code is applied, it cannot be changed or replaced.
Can I use the code with an ISA?
You can use it when opening an ISA, but the reward is credited to a GIA. If you opened an ISA first, you need to open a GIA to receive it.
Can I withdraw my deposit after I get the reward?
Not without losing the reward. If you withdraw your initial deposit within 6 months of claiming it, the reward is removed.
When can I sell or withdraw the free share?
You can sell the share, but the reward can only be withdrawn or transferred 6 months after you receive it. If you sell, the restriction applies to a sum equal to the reward’s original value.
Can I use a promo code and a referral link together?
No. Your sign-up method determines your reward, and you cannot change it later.
Does the code work for business accounts?
Business accounts have their own promotion, with a separate code (INVESTINGINTHEWEBBIZ) and a different reward table in the same terms.
Is Lightyear a good app?
That depends on what you need. In the UK it charges no order fees on stocks, ETFs and gilts and 0.1% on currency conversion, but it has no SIPP. Our Lightyear app review covers the details.
