You may already know Webull, the American trading platform known for its options capability alongside stocks, ETFs, and OTC products.

As financial centres across the MENA region continue to grow in prominence, the natural question for investors based there is whether Webull is available in Dubai and the wider UAE.

By way of recap: Webull is modern, well designed, and suited to professionals or students who value commission-free trading in ETFs, ADRs, stocks, options, and cryptocurrencies, with charting and analysis tools stronger than most competitors at its price point. Its main rivals include Robinhood and E*TRADE, now part of Morgan Stanley.

Want to know whether Webull is available in Dubai, what its expansion plans look like, and which alternatives UAE investors can use? We have got you covered.

Is Webull available in the UAE?

Webull is not available in the UAE. The platform currently operates in:

Webull account opening

Webull has announced no plans to enter the UAE or any MENA market. Operating there would require authorisation from the DFSA in Dubai, the FSRA in Abu Dhabi, or the Securities and Commodities Authority onshore – a licensing process Webull has not begun publicly.

The UAE is also a well-served market already, with several internationally regulated brokers competing there, some under direct local supervision. That reduces the commercial incentive for a new entrant to take on the licensing cost.

A VPN will not work around this. Registration requires proof of residence alongside identity documentation, which a VPN cannot provide. Beyond the practical obstacle, misrepresenting your country of residence breaches the platform’s terms and can result in your account being frozen with funds inaccessible – potentially at the worst possible moment. The alternatives below accept UAE residents openly, which is a far better position to invest from.

Founded in 1978 and publicly listed on NASDAQ (ticker: IBKR, an S&P 500 constituent since 2024), Interactive Brokers is a global broker that has weathered multiple financial crises, demonstrating resilience and a rigorous risk management framework. It serves over 5 million client accounts with more than $900 billion in client equity.

IBKR offers an advanced platform spanning stocks, options, ETFs, futures, bonds, forex, funds, and cryptocurrencies across 170+ markets in 36+ countries, with solid execution via IB SmartRouting and comprehensive analysis tools. Critically for investors here, it accepts UAE dirhams (AED) as a base currency, avoiding the conversion costs that recur on every deposit and withdrawal at USD-only platforms.

Beginners and intermediate investors have educational resources through IBKR Campus, though the TWS platform has a steep learning curve, which is why we mainly recommend it to more experienced traders. Customer support gives clear, precise answers.

On the downside, the fee structure is complex and registration lengthy, though fully online, and IBKR does not offer fully commission-free trading. Factoring in FX conversion at 0.20 basis points (minimum $2), tight spreads, and the Stock Yield Enhancement Program, clients still achieve significant savings versus most brokers. There is no minimum deposit.

For anyone drawn to Webull specifically for its options capability, IBKR is the strongest substitute available in the UAE – it offers considerably deeper options tooling and multi-leg strategy support than any of the CFD-focused alternatives.

Interactive Brokers also offers IBKR GlobalTrader, a modern mobile app for stocks, options, and ETFs, well suited to beginner investors, with automatic currency conversion, fractional shares from $1, and a $10,000 demo account.

Sarwa is a digital investment platform headquartered in Abu Dhabi, founded in 2017 and built around simplifying investing for residents of the Middle East. It combines several services in one ecosystem, letting users choose between self-directed trading and fully automated portfolios.

Through Sarwa Trade, users can buy and sell over 10,000 US-listed stocks and ETFs, alongside US options and cryptocurrencies. It supports market and limit orders, fractional shares, and requires no minimum deposit. Note two limitations: Sarwa Trade is mobile-only, and it covers US-listed securities exclusively, so there is no access to European, Asian, or regional markets.

For a hands-off approach, Sarwa Invest is a robo-advisory service offering globally diversified ETF portfolios matched to your risk tolerance and rebalanced automatically. Sarwa stands out regionally for offering Conventional, Halal, Socially Responsible, and Crypto-enhanced portfolios, making it one of the few platforms in the region with dedicated Sharia-compliant options. Minimum investment is $500 for Conventional and Halal portfolios, and $2,500 for Socially Responsible.

Sarwa Save is a cash management product with no lock-in period or minimum deposit, carrying a 0.50% annual management fee. Returns are variable and track prevailing money market conditions, so check the current rate on Sarwa’s site. A Halal version is available through an Islamic money market fund.

On costs, stock and ETF trades are the greater of $1 or 0.25% per trade, with US options at $4 per contract. Robo-advisory fees run from 0.50% to 0.85% annually, subject to a minimum of $7 per month. Crypto carries a 0.75% spread. There are no account opening, custody, withdrawal, inactivity, or closing fees, and local UAE transfers are free.

That $7 monthly minimum deserves attention: on a $500 portfolio – the stated entry point – $84 a year works out at roughly 17% annually, which would overwhelm any realistic return. The fee only becomes proportionate above around $10,000.

Sarwa is supervised by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) in the Abu Dhabi Global Market, with client assets segregated and held with established custodians including Saxo and, via Alpaca, BMO Harris Bank.

52% of retail CFD accounts lose money.

Founded in 2007, eToro is a well-known global fintech and the leading platform in social trading, with over 40 million users worldwide. Alongside real stocks and ETFs, it offers CFDs and cryptocurrencies through an intuitive interface well suited to those learning the ropes.

On pricing, ETFs trade commission-free, while stocks carry a $1 commission on most exchanges, rising to $2 on the Dubai and Abu Dhabi exchanges – worth knowing if you intend to trade regional listings. Opening an account and depositing is straightforward, with a $100,000 demo account available. On the downside, spreads can be high on some products, and eToro operates in USD only, so AED deposits are converted both ways.

eToro offers an Islamic (swap-free and interest-free) account for observant traders, subject to a minimum funding requirement. It also holds in-principle approval from the FSRA in Abu Dhabi Global Market, though unlike Plus500 and XTB it does not yet operate a fully licensed UAE entity.

CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. 52% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.

81% of retail CFD accounts lose money.

Founded in 2008, Plus500 offers real shares and CFDs on forex, indices, shares, commodities, options, ETFs, and cryptocurrencies. It operates in over 50 countries and is listed on the London Stock Exchange (ticker: PLUS) as a FTSE 250 constituent. Two account types are available:

  • Plus500 CFD: CFD products only;
  • Plus500 Invest: for trading real shares.

The main platform is WebTrader, Plus500’s proprietary system, stable and accessible across devices including a mobile app, with a demo account available for testing. Spreads are competitive and accounts are supported in 16 base currencies including AED, so UAE residents can hold in dirhams. Plus500 charges a 0.70% currency conversion fee and a $10 monthly inactivity fee after three months without activity.

On Plus500 Invest, US market commissions are $0.006 per share (minimum $1). The group is regulated by the FCA, CySEC, ASIC, and others, with negative balance protection now applying globally. Islamic swap-free accounts are available to UAE residents.

Plus500 is among the few brokers with a dedicated UAE subsidiary: Plus500AE Ltd, authorised and regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (Licence No. F005651).

Note that in the UAE, availability may be limited to Plus500 CFD – verify whether real share trading is offered to you before opening an account, since it determines whether you can own assets or only trade derivatives.

69-80% of retail CFD accounts lose money.

Founded in 2002 and listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, XTB serves over 1.7 million clients across 16 countries, regulated by the FCA, KNF, CySEC, and BaFin. Its xStation 5 platform is regularly recognised for usability, with strong charting and technical analysis tooling.

XTB offers zero-commission trading on stock CFDs, alongside competitive forex pricing. Crypto CFD spreads are relatively wide by comparison. An inactivity fee of €10 per month applies after one year without trading and no deposit in the past 90 days. Opening an account is quick and fully online, with a demo account available.

Like Plus500, XTB operates a dedicated UAE entity, XTB MENA Limited, licensed by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (Licence No. F006316), and offers Islamic swap-free accounts to UAE residents.

Note that in the UAE, XTB’s stock offering is via CFDs rather than real shares – you gain price exposure through a derivative without owning the underlying asset, with overnight financing costs on held positions.

CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Between 69-80% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.

Which platform is best for the UAE?

Several factors matter when choosing a broker as a UAE resident:

  • Real assets or CFDs: the most consequential distinction here. Interactive Brokers and Sarwa offer real share ownership, while XTB and Plus500 provide CFDs in this market. For long-term investing, real assets are the appropriate route;
  • Local regulation: Plus500 and XTB hold DFSA licences, Sarwa is FSRA-regulated in ADGM, while Interactive Brokers serves UAE clients from overseas entities. Local authorisation brings local recourse that an offshore entity does not;
  • Islamic accounts: swap-free accounts are available from eToro, Plus500, and XTB, while Sarwa offers dedicated Halal portfolios with genuine Sharia screening rather than just interest-free trading – a meaningful difference if compliance matters to you;
  • AED support: Interactive Brokers and Plus500 accept dirhams as a base currency, avoiding conversion costs that recur on every deposit and withdrawal;
  • Product range: check coverage against what you intend to trade, including whether you need access beyond US markets;
  • Total cost: compare commissions, spreads, conversion fees, and inactivity charges together rather than headline rates.

The right broker depends on your profile, preferences, and objectives. Explore the platforms above and decide for yourself.

The above should not be construed as investment advice and is provided for informational purposes only. Investors should do their own due diligence regarding the services best suited to their risk tolerance and return objectives.
