Interactive Brokers at a glance
Interactive Brokers has proven to be one of the most reliable brokers in the market. The company was founded in 1978 and has survived many financial crises, making it a well-established and trustworthy broker regulated by many top-tier regulators (SEC, FINRA, FCA, CBI, ASIC, MAS and others). It accepts Kenyan residents through its foreign entities (it holds no CMA licence), providing a wide range of assets and access to more than 150 markets, and securities are held with Interactive Brokers LLC in the US, covered by SIPC up to $500,000.
It offers trading apps to invest in real stocks and ETFs with sophisticated and powerful tools, a wide range of products available for trading and low prices. The broker offers different mobile apps and web-based platforms that should be used according to your knowledge and experience. The mobile app IBKR GlobalTrader is a user-friendly app suitable for beginners because it simplifies investing (including fractional shares from $1) without losing the powerful tools for which the broker is famous.
If you want to make the most of the broker’s powerful tools, you can use IBKR Mobile, a complete and sophisticated trading app to trade stocks, ETFs, options and more. As the features of this app can be overwhelming for beginners, we would recommend IBKR GlobalTrader if you do not have a lot of experience.
In addition to the mobile apps, you will also find a desktop app (Trader Workstation and IBKR Desktop) and the web-based Client Portal, with sophisticated trading tools to access the global financial markets. The main drawback for Kenyans is funding: only bank transfers are accepted, so there is no M-Pesa, and you will need a bank that processes international wires. Overall, we believe that Interactive Brokers offers the best stock trading apps in Kenya for anyone who wants to own real shares.
Please check our Interactive Brokers review if you want to know more about the broker.
Pepperstone at a glance
74-89% of retail CFD accounts lose money.
Pepperstone is an Australian broker founded in 2010 in Melbourne and regulated by top-tier authorities such as ASIC, the FCA, CySEC, BaFin and the DFSA. What makes it stand out for Kenyan traders is that it is one of the few international brokers with a local licence from the Capital Markets Authority (CMA): Kenyan clients are onboarded by Pepperstone Markets Kenya Limited, a non-dealing online foreign exchange broker supervised in Nairobi, with segregated client funds and a leverage cap of 1:400 on major forex pairs.
The Pepperstone app is clean and fast, and you can also trade through TradingView, MetaTrader 4 and 5 and cTrader, which makes it the best choice on this list for algorithmic and copy trading. Deposits and withdrawals through M-Pesa are supported, with no deposit fees.
Keep in mind that Pepperstone is a CFD broker: you trade CFDs on shares, ETFs, indices, forex, commodities and cryptocurrencies, so you never own the underlying stock and positions carry overnight financing costs. It is a tool for active traders, not for long-term investors.

Capital.com at a glance
CFDs involve a high level of risk. 74-89% of retail investors lose money.
Capital.com is a fintech founded in 2016 committed to democratising the financial markets by providing commission-free CFD trading. Its platform has AI-powered features that can give the user a unique trading experience. The group is supervised by top-tier regulators such as the FCA, CySEC and ASIC, but Kenyan clients are onboarded by one of its international entities (regulated by the Securities Commission of The Bahamas), not by the CMA, so check which entity appears in your client agreement.
Capital.com offers highly customisable trading platforms with news feeds, extended trading hours, sophisticated trading tools and plenty of educational resources. Besides allowing traders to use TradingView and MetaTrader 4, Capital.com offers its own trading app, where you can use AI-powered technology to enhance your results and trade CFDs on more than 3,000 stocks from different markets.
The educational content that used to live in the separate Investmate app is now built into the main app and website. All these features put Capital.com on our list of the best stock trading apps in Kenya, but if you want to know more about the broker, please read our Capital.com review.
NAGA at a glance
77.41% of retail CFD accounts lose money.
NAGA is a German fintech that simplifies investing for everyone. It belongs to NAGA Group AG, listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, which merged with the Key Way Group (owner of CAPEX.com) in 2024. Its European entity is supervised by CySEC, which enhances the broker’s reliability, transparency and safety.
The platform enables traders to invest via MetaTrader 4 and 5 and provides a social trading app for Android and iOS, where you can trade CFDs on stocks, copy other traders and access tailored news feeds, among other tools. Deposits through M-Pesa and Airtel Money are supported.
Please note that if you open an account from Kenya, you will be onboarded by NAGA Global, an entity not directly regulated by any top-tier authority and offering fewer protections than the European branch.
Also, you will only trade CFDs on stocks rather than real shares, meaning you won’t own the underlying asset. Still, thanks to its responsive customer service and feature-rich social trading app covering diverse financial instruments, the broker remains a solid choice in our list of Kenya’s top stock trading apps for those who want to copy other traders.

Methodology
When making this list, we wanted to help investors in Kenya make an educated choice when choosing the best stock trading app. Each of the trading apps we presented has its main features, and we tried to provide a diverse list that will suit the needs of different profiles of investors. In any case, this is what we took into consideration:
- Prices: the price cannot be the only aspect to be considered when choosing a trading app, but it is definitely important. You do not want to pay more for a service when you can get the same quality for lower prices.
- Regulation and local licence: whether the broker is licensed by the CMA in Kenya or serves Kenyans from a foreign entity, and how strong that foreign regulator is.
- Educational resources: high-quality educational resources may be a great advantage, especially for beginners, who can use them to educate themselves before investing money.
- Range of products and markets available: does the app offer real stocks and ETFs or only CFDs? Does it have crypto?
- Funding in Kenya: M-Pesa support and fees on deposits and withdrawals in KES.
- Customer service: irrespective of your choice, problems almost always appear, and it is important to find trading apps developed to help you when that happens.
- The trading app itself: of course, we took into consideration the functionalities and usability of the platform, as well as its specific features.
Bottom line
To summarise, here’s the list of “Best stock trading apps in Kenya”:
- Interactive Brokers: best for intermediate and advanced investors (real stocks and ETFs)
- Pepperstone: best CMA-licensed app for CFD trading
- Capital.com: best for CFDs on stocks
- NAGA: best for social trading
It is hard to choose the right stock trading app in Kenya. Luckily, we have helped many people in the same situation before, and we can help you now. To facilitate your choice, we listed a few of the best stock trading apps in Kenya, in our opinion, comparing what they can offer and highlighting their strengths. If you want to buy shares on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), none of the apps above offers them: you will need a CMA-licensed stockbroker such as those listed on the CMA’s website.
We know that investing in stocks is a good way to build wealth over time, but, like everything in life, risks are involved, and they are far higher when trading CFDs with leverage. We hope that our analysis was enough to help you make an educated decision acknowledging those risks, whether you are experienced or a novice in the trading world.
In any case, keep on studying, do your due diligence, know your investment profile and invest wisely!
Other FAQs
What is the difference between a stock and a stock CFD?
While a stock gives you a property right over a share of the company, a CFD does not. A stock CFD is a derivative contract where the underlying asset is the stock and where the broker pays you (or you pay the broker) the difference in value between the time you opened the position and the time you closed it. CFDs are leveraged: you put up only a fraction of the position’s value as margin, so both gains and losses are magnified, and you pay overnight financing for as long as the position stays open. This makes the instrument risky and not suitable for beginners or for long-term investing.
Does eToro operate in Kenya?
No, eToro is not available in Kenya. Still, you can find alternatives like Interactive Brokers for real stocks, or Pepperstone, Capital.com and NAGA for CFD and social trading.
Is online trading legal in Kenya?
Yes. Online forex and CFD trading is regulated by the Capital Markets Authority under the Capital Markets (Online Foreign Exchange Trading) Regulations, 2017. Licensed brokers must keep at least KES 50 million in capital, segregate client funds and cap leverage at 1:400 on major pairs. Kenyans are also free to open accounts with foreign brokers such as Interactive Brokers, but those accounts are protected by the foreign regulator, not by the CMA.
Can I deposit with M-Pesa?
Pepperstone, Capital.com and NAGA accept M-Pesa deposits (NAGA also accepts Airtel Money). Interactive Brokers only accepts bank transfers, so you will need to wire money from a Kenyan bank account, usually in USD.
