Wise Business and Revolut Business are the two digital business accounts UK companies compare most often. Both let you hold many currencies, pay suppliers abroad and give your team cards. They charge in very different ways, though: Wise has no monthly fee and charges per conversion, while Revolut charges a monthly plan that includes free allowances.

That difference decides which one is cheaper for you. In this comparison we look at plans, currency exchange, account details, cards, payment acceptance and safety, and we run the numbers for different monthly volumes so you can see where each account wins. All fees were checked on the providers’ own websites in October 2026, using UK pricing unless stated otherwise.

Wise Business vs Revolut Business: quick answer

  1. Revolut Business: best for companies that want card controls for a team, card payment acceptance, a savings account and FSCS protection, with fixed monthly allowances for transfers and currency exchange. Plans start at £10 a month, and new businesses get a £200 Revolut Business bonus.
  2. Wise Business: best for businesses with low or irregular international volumes, or that need local account details in many currencies (USD, AUD, CAD and more), with no monthly fee and a one-off £50 setup fee.

UK pricing checked on Revolut Business plans and Wise Business pricing in October 2026. Fees and savings rates are variable and can change.

The main difference: plans or pay per use?

Revolut Business sells four plans. You pay every month and get a set number of free transfers and a free currency exchange allowance at the interbank rate. Go over the allowance and you pay per transfer and 0.6% on the extra exchange.

Wise Business has no plans in the usual sense. You open it for free (Essential) or pay £50 once (Advanced) to unlock account details for receiving money. After that you pay only when you convert or send money in another currency, starting at 0.24% of the amount.

So which one costs less? If you convert a few thousand pounds a month, Wise usually does. If you convert more than about £15,000 a month during the week, a Revolut plan often works out cheaper. The section on worked examples below shows the numbers.

Revolut Business plans

UK plan Basic Grow Scale

Source: Revolut Business plans (UK), October 2026. Enterprise has custom pricing and savings at 3.3% AER. Savings balances are capped at £500,000 on Grow and £1,000,000 on Scale.

Revolut business plans

Every plan includes unlimited team members, physical and virtual cards, free transfers to other Revolut accounts, invoicing, payment links and accounting integrations. Grow adds custom spend approvals, bulk transfers, analytics and the savings account.

Over the allowance, a local transfer (GBP, or EUR within Europe) costs £0.20 and an international transfer costs £5. Currency exchange above the allowance costs 0.6%. Exchanges between 17:00 on Friday and 18:00 on Sunday (US Eastern time) cost 1% on every plan, even inside the allowance.

Freelancers without a company are pointed by Revolut to Revolut Pro, a free profile inside the personal app with per-transaction fees, which is a different product from Revolut Business.

Wise business pricing

Most UK companies need Advanced, since Essential cannot receive money. A business that only pays suppliers abroad can stay on Essential for free.

Wise has no transfer allowances. Each conversion is charged at the mid-market rate plus a fee that depends on the currency pair, from 0.24%, and Wise shows it before you confirm. Sending GBP to another Wise account is free, and once your business converts more than £20,000 in a month Wise applies a volume discount.

Which is cheaper? Worked examples

The table below shows the monthly cost of converting GBP to EUR or USD on weekdays at different volumes. For Revolut we use the cheapest plan for each volume, billed monthly. For Wise we use its lowest fee of 0.24%: the real fee depends on the currency, so read the Wise column as a minimum.

Converted per month Wise Business Revolut Business Cheaper
£2,000 From £4.80 £16 (Basic: £10 + £6 FX) Wise
£5,000 From £12 £34 (Basic: £10 + £24 FX) Wise
£10,000 From £24 £35 (Grow) Wise
£15,000 From £36 £35 (Grow) Similar
£30,000 From £72 £125 (Scale) Wise
£60,000 From £144 £125 (Scale) Revolut

Our calculation with UK fees checked in October 2026. Wise applies a volume discount above £20,000 a month, which lowers its figures for £30,000 and £60,000. With annual billing, Revolut Grow costs £30 and Scale £90 a month. Weekend exchanges at Revolut cost 1% extra.

Three things change the result:

Your currency pair: Wise’s 0.24% is a floor. If your pair costs more, say 0.35%, Revolut Grow becomes cheaper from about £10,000 a month, since £35 divided by 0.35% is £10,000.

Annual billing: on annual billing Grow costs £30 a month, which beats Wise’s minimum fee from £12,500 a month of conversions. Scale at £90 beats it from £37,500.

The rest of your banking: the FX bill is only part of the picture. A UK company that receives GBP from clients and makes 20 local payments a month pays £0 a month at Wise after the £50 setup fee. At Revolut Basic it pays £12 a month (£10 plan plus 10 extra transfers at £0.20), or £144 a year. The Revolut Business welcome bonus of £200 covers more than a year of that.

Multi-currency accounts and receiving money

This is where Wise is clearly ahead. With Advanced, a UK business gets local account details in 9 currencies, including GBP, EUR, USD, AUD and CAD, and Swift details in 22. A US client can pay you by ACH as if you had a US bank account, and an Australian client can pay in AUD locally.

UK Revolut Business accounts get local details in GBP (sort code and account number) and EUR (a Lithuanian IBAN that works for SEPA payments). All other currencies come with Swift details only. Revolut does not charge for receiving GBP, EUR, USD or CHF, but your client’s bank may charge for a Swift payment.

If you sell to clients in the US, Canada or Australia, Wise makes getting paid simpler and cheaper for them.

Business cards and expenses

Both accounts give you physical and virtual Visa or Mastercard debit cards for you and your team, with spending limits per card.

Revolut Business goes further on team spending. Each employee can have up to 3 physical cards, and Grow adds custom spending rules, expense approvals and purchase orders. Receipt capture and expense reports (Revolut Expenses) cost extra on every plan.

Wise gives the first card for free and charges £3 for each extra team card. UK business cards earn 0.5% cashback on eligible spending. If you pay in a currency you hold, there is no fee. If you don’t hold it, Wise converts it at the mid-market rate plus its usual fee.

Accepting payments from customers

If you sell online or in a shop, Revolut is the only option of the two. Revolut Business includes a payment gateway with Shopify and other plugins, Revolut Pay, a card reader, a POS system and Tap to Pay on iPhone, with UK card fees from 0.8% + £0.02.

Wise lets you send invoices, payment links and QR codes on Advanced, but card payment acceptance is currently not available to new Wise Business customers.

Savings and interest

Revolut Business pays interest on a savings account from the Grow plan: 2.15% AER on Grow, 2.65% on Scale and 3.3% on Enterprise (variable, October 2026). Since the money sits in a bank account, eligible balances are covered by the FSCS.

Wise Interest puts your GBP, EUR or USD into a money market fund. The return is variable, Wise charges an annual fee from 0.26% and your capital is at risk, so it works differently from a savings account. If your company holds spare cash for longer periods, our guide to the best business brokerage accounts covers other ways to invest it.

Integrations and tools

Both connect to Xero and QuickBooks and offer an API. Wise also connects to FreeAgent and NetSuite, and its batch payments tool pays up to 1,000 people in one go on any account.

Revolut adds HR tools, Slack and Zapier, and bulk payments from the Grow plan. Revolut’s card controls, approvals and analytics make it the stronger tool for running a team’s finances. Wise is stronger for moving money between countries.

Safety and regulation

Revolut Bank UK received its full UK banking licence in March 2026, when the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) lifted the restrictions it had applied since 2024. Eligible deposits are now covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) up to £120,000, and most small companies count as eligible depositors.

Wise is an e-money institution, so it does not lend out your money. It must keep customer funds separate from its own and hold them in safe assets, which is called safeguarding. If Wise failed, those funds would be returned to customers through an insolvency process, but there is no FSCS guarantee. Money in Wise Interest is invested in a fund, so it carries market risk.

For a company holding large balances, Revolut’s FSCS cover is a real advantage. Many businesses keep their main reserve in a bank account and use Wise for international payments.

Opening an account

Revolut Business: you apply online in about 10 minutes. Revolut checks the company and its directors and may ask for documents. Once approved, the account is usually ready within 24 hours. Opening through our link gives your business a £200 welcome bonus after you add at least £0.01. See the Revolut Business bonus terms for the full conditions.

Wise Business: you register online with the company details, the directors’ details and ID, then pay the £50 if you want Advanced. Wise says verification usually takes less than 10 working days. Wise is open to limited companies, sole traders, partnerships and some charities.

Customer support

Revolut Business offers 24/7 support in English through in-app chat, and a dedicated account manager on Enterprise. Wise offers support through its help centre and in-app contact, and API customers get 24/7 support. Neither has branches.

Wise Business vs Revolut Business in Europe

Both accounts are available across most of the EEA, with local pricing. In Ireland, for example, Revolut Business costs €10 (Basic), €35 (Grow) or €125 (Scale) a month with the same allowances in euros, and accounts come with an Irish IBAN. Wise charges a one-off €60 for account details and conversion fees from 0.2%.

In the EEA, Revolut Business is provided by Revolut Bank UAB, licensed by the European Central Bank and the Bank of Lithuania, with eligible deposits protected up to €100,000. Wise works under its European e-money entity, with safeguarding instead of deposit insurance. The welcome bonus through our link is €200 in most eurozone countries. Prices vary by country, so check the pricing page for yours.

Wise Business vs Revolut Business: final verdict

Do you run a team, take card payments or convert more than about £15,000 a month on weekdays? Then Revolut Business is the better fit. Grow at £35 a month covers £15,000 of currency exchange, 100 local transfers and 5 international transfers, and your balance is FSCS protected. The £200 bonus pays for almost six months of Grow.

Do you convert small or irregular amounts, or need to get paid in USD, AUD or CAD? Then Wise Business is cheaper. You pay £50 once and from 0.24% per conversion, so £5,000 a month costs from £12 at Wise against £34 at Revolut Basic.

Many UK companies use both: Revolut as the main account for cards, savings and card payments, Wise for receiving foreign currencies and occasional payments abroad. Opening both costs nothing per month at Wise, and the Revolut bonus covers the first months of a plan.

FAQs

Is Wise Business or Revolut Business cheaper?

It depends on volume. Below about £10,000 of monthly conversions, Wise is usually cheaper because it has no monthly fee. From about £15,000 on weekdays, Revolut Grow or Scale often costs less, because the exchange is free within the allowance.

Is Revolut Business a real bank in the UK?

Yes. Revolut Bank UK Ltd got its full banking licence in March 2026, and eligible deposits are protected by the FSCS up to £120,000. Wise is an e-money institution and safeguards customer money instead.

Does Wise Business have a monthly fee?

No. Wise Business Essential is free and Advanced costs £50 once. You then pay per conversion, from 0.24%.

Can I have both Wise Business and Revolut Business?

Yes. Nothing stops a company from holding both, and many do: one for day-to-day banking and cards, the other for receiving and sending foreign currencies.

Can I get a USD account with Revolut Business in the UK?

You can hold and send USD, but UK accounts get Swift details for USD, not US local details. Wise Business Advanced gives US account details for ACH and wire payments.

Is there a Revolut Business promo code?

No code is needed. Opening your first Revolut Business account through our link and adding £0.01 gives a £200 bonus in the UK, €200 in most of Europe and $200 in the US until 31 December 2026. Details are on our Revolut Business bonus page.

Can a sole trader open Wise Business or Revolut Business?

Wise Business accepts UK sole traders. Revolut points freelancers without a company to Revolut Pro, a free profile in the personal app with per-transaction fees.
