Fact checked

In this review we give our assessment of Revolut Business, covering its plans, every fee that matters, features, safety and who can open an account. If you decide to open one, our link gives new businesses a £200 Revolut Business bonus, with no promo code needed.

Revolut Business is the business account of Revolut, the London fintech founded in 2015. It served 767,000 businesses at the end of 2025 and brings multi-currency accounts, team cards, card payment acceptance and a savings account into one app, for a monthly plan that starts at £10.

We use Revolut Business as the only bank of one of our own companies, so this review combines Revolut’s published fees with how the account works day to day. All figures were checked on Revolut’s website in October 2026, using UK pricing unless stated otherwise.

One point to establish upfront: there is no free plan. In exchange for the monthly fee you get free allowances for transfers and currency exchange, and the plan you pick decides how much you pay in the end.

  • FSCS protection up to £120,000 and savings from 2.15% AER

Revolut business plans

Basic fits a small company that mostly pays and gets paid in pounds, makes up to 10 payments a month and converts little. Grow is the plan most international small businesses end up on: £15,000 of free exchange, 100 local transfers, bulk payments, spend approvals and a savings account at 2.15% AER. Scale adds a £60,000 exchange allowance and savings at 2.65%, and it pays off from about £40,000 of monthly conversions. Grow includes one free metal card and Scale two.

You can change plan at any time. An upgrade can start immediately and a downgrade starts at the next billing cycle. If you downgrade or close the account within 3 months of starting a plan that included a metal card, Revolut charges back the cost of the card.

Fees

These are the fees you pay on top of the plan once you go over its allowances, plus the ones that apply on every plan.

Fee type Fee value
Currency exchange above allowance 0.6%
Exchange at weekends 1% (every plan)
Local transfer above allowance £0.20
International transfer above allowance £5
Guaranteed Swift (OUR) transfer £20

Receiving GBP, EUR, USD and CHF Free
ATM withdrawals 2% of the amount

A few details are easy to miss:

  • Weekend exchange: between 17:00 on Friday and 18:00 on Sunday (US Eastern time), every exchange costs 1%, even inside your allowance. Schedule conversions for weekdays
  • What counts as local: a GBP payment within the UK, or a EUR payment by SEPA within Europe. Other currencies count as international
  • Cash: every ATM withdrawal costs 2% on all plans, and ATM operators can add their own fee
  • Swift fees: intermediary banks can deduct their own fees. The £20 guaranteed Swift option makes your business pay all of them, so the recipient gets the full amount.

How much does Revolut Business cost per year?

Three typical UK businesses, with fees from October 2026 and conversions made on weekdays:

Business Best plan Cost per year
Consultant: 15 local payments a month, no FX Basic £132 (£120 plan + £12 extra transfers)
Agency: team of 4, £10,000 a month to EUR, Expenses app Grow (annual) £744 (£360 plan + £384 Expenses)
Importer: £40,000 a month to USD Scale (annual) £1,080 (plan only)

Our calculation with UK fees checked in October 2026. The £200 welcome bonus is not included.

The importer shows why the plan matters. On Grow it would pay £30 a month plus 0.6% on the £25,000 above the allowance (£150), so £2,160 a year. Scale costs half of that.

The consultant pays £132 a year, so the £200 bonus covers the whole first year. A company that converts very little or needs local account details in USD, AUD or CAD may pay less at Wise: see our comparison of Wise Business vs Revolut Business for the numbers.

Features

Multi-currency accounts: you can hold and exchange more than 25 currencies. UK accounts get local GBP details (sort code and account number) and a EUR IBAN for SEPA payments, plus Swift details for other currencies. FX forwards let you lock a rate for a future payment, and Grow adds limit and stop orders.

Business cards: each team member gets a free plastic card and can have up to 3 physical cards, plus virtual cards for subscriptions. Cards spend in more than 150 currencies, and from Grow you can set custom spending rules and approvals.

Expenses, bills and payroll: Revolut Expenses captures receipts and builds expense reports for £8 per active team member a month. BillPay handles supplier invoices, and the Payroll app costs £3 per team member a month.

Accepting payments: payment links, QR codes, invoices, Shopify and other ecommerce plugins, Revolut Pay, a card reader, a POS system and Tap to Pay on iPhone. Sales land in the same account you use to pay suppliers, with no separate merchant provider.

Savings: from Grow, spare cash can earn 2.15% AER (Grow), 2.65% (Scale) or 3.3% (Enterprise), variable and paid daily, with FSCS protection on eligible balances. To invest company cash for longer, see our guide to the best business brokerage accounts.

Integrations: Xero, QuickBooks, HR platforms, Slack, Zapier and a Business API. Bulk transfers are available from Grow.

Safety and regulation

In the UK, Revolut Business accounts are provided by Revolut Bank UK Ltd. In the EEA, they are provided by Revolut Bank UAB in Lithuania.

Entity Regulator Deposit protection
Revolut Bank UK Ltd PRA and FCA, FRN 981170 FSCS up to £120,000
Revolut Bank UAB European Central Bank and Bank of Lithuania Up to €100,000 (Lithuanian scheme)

Sources: FCA register and Revolut, checked in October 2026.

Revolut received its full UK banking licence in March 2026, when the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) lifted the restrictions it had applied since 2024. Eligible deposits are now protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) up to £120,000, and most small companies count as eligible depositors.

Revolut is also large and profitable. In 2025 it reported revenue of $6.0bn and a profit before tax of $2.3bn in its 2025 annual results, and Revolut Business brought in 16% of total income. Security tools include instant card freezing, a security control centre, account lock and 24/7 fraud monitoring.

Account restrictions

Search for Revolut Business reviews and you will find stories of frozen accounts. This can happen at any bank, but it is the complaint you will see most often about Revolut, so it is worth understanding.

Revolut can restrict an account when its systems flag possible fraud, when anti-money laundering and Know Your Customer (KYC) rules require more checks, after a court order or a request from the authorities, or when it suspects a breach of its terms. During a review it usually asks for ID, proof of address, financial information or evidence of specific transactions. Revolut says it aims to lift a restriction within 3 hours of receiving everything it needs, but reviews take longer when other banks or regulators are involved.

To lower the risk, describe your business accurately when you open the account, answer document requests quickly, keep invoices for large incoming payments and don’t use the account for activities Revolut does not support, such as holding client money. If a dispute isn’t resolved, UK micro-enterprises can take a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service. Many companies also keep a second account elsewhere, so payroll and supplier payments can continue during a review.

Who can open an account

Your company must be fully incorporated and active, with its legal address in the UK, Switzerland, the EEA, the US, Australia, Singapore or India, and it can’t already have an active Revolut Business account.

Revolut does not accept charities, public sector bodies, cooperatives, trusts and some industries, including gambling, weapons, adult content, precious metals dealing, used vehicle sales, unregulated financial services and crypto exchanges or brokers. You also can’t use the account to hold or move client money.

Freelancers and sole traders without a company are pointed to Revolut Pro, a profile inside the personal Revolut app with no monthly fee. It charges only when you get paid, for example 1% + £0.20 on domestic consumer cards online.

How to open an account

  1. Start from our Revolut Business link, so the £200 welcome bonus applies. It does not apply if you sign up from the normal flow in the app
  2. Enter your company details: registered name, legal form, registration number and addresses
  3. Add the directors and shareholders, who verify their identity with a photo ID
  4. Upload documents if asked, such as the Certificate of Incorporation and the Articles of Association
  5. Wait for the business verification, which can take up to 5 business days
  6. Add at least £0.01 to receive the bonus, then order your cards.

Welcome bonus

New businesses that open their first Revolut Business account through our link and add at least 0.01 in their currency get £200 in the UK, $200 in the US and €200 in most eurozone countries. No promo code is needed and the offer runs until 31 December 2026. A business that has ever held a Revolut Business account doesn’t qualify, but a personal Revolut account doesn’t count against you. The amounts for all 34 countries are on our Revolut Business promo code page.

Revolut Business in Europe

Revolut Business works the same way across the EEA, with prices in euros or local currency. In Ireland, for example, Basic costs €10, Grow €35 and Scale €125 a month, with free exchange allowances of €1,000, €15,000 and €60,000. Irish accounts come with an Irish IBAN, and savings pay from 1% to 1.75% AER depending on the plan. Prices vary by country, so check Revolut’s pricing page for yours.

User reviews

Revolut has a rating of 4.6 out of 5 on Trustpilot (October 2026), but the score mixes personal and business customers. Positive reviews praise the app, the exchange rates and how quickly accounts open. Negative reviews focus on account restrictions and on support that answers by chat only.

Customer support is available 24/7 in English through the in-app chat and the web app, and Enterprise customers get an account manager. There is no phone line and there are no branches. Support can help during an account review, but it can’t lift a restriction itself.

Is Revolut Business worth it?

Yes, for most companies that trade internationally. Grow at £35 a month (£30 billed annually) covers £15,000 of currency exchange, 100 local transfers and 5 international transfers, and adds savings at 2.15% AER, with card payment acceptance and FSCS protection in the same app.

Revolut Business is a good fit if you:

  • Pay suppliers or staff abroad: exchange at the interbank rate within the allowance beats high street bank margins
  • Run a team: unlimited team members, card controls and approvals from Grow
  • Sell online or in person: card payments land in the same account, from 0.8% + £0.02

It is a weaker choice if you:

  • Only use pounds and make few payments: you still pay £120 a year for Basic
  • Need to get paid locally in USD, AUD or CAD: UK accounts only have local GBP and EUR details
  • Can’t afford a pause in payments: keep a second account in case of a compliance review

Bottom line

Revolut Business combines a multi-currency account, team cards, card payment acceptance and a savings account in one app, with free exchange allowances from £1,000 to £60,000 a month. Since March 2026, UK deposits are FSCS protected up to £120,000.

The trade-offs are the monthly fee, the 1% weekend exchange fee and the risk of a temporary restriction during compliance checks. For a typical small international business on Grow, the £200 welcome bonus pays for almost six months of the plan.
