Fact checked

Webull launched in the UK in July 2023, after building a large following among retail investors in the US. Since then, the UK offer has changed a lot: US and Hong Kong shares are now commission-free, UK shares and ETFs have been added, and a Stocks and Shares ISA launched in April 2026.

In this Webull UK review, we cover the fees, products, platform and safety, so you can decide whether it suits you.

We recommend Webull in the UK if you want to trade US shares with no commission and have in-depth analysis tools at no extra cost.

New Webull UK users get several welcome offers, including 90 days of commission-free UK share trading and 12 months of free Nasdaq Level 2 data. We cover them in more detail below.

Webull is a US investing platform owned by Webull Corporation, which is listed on the Nasdaq (ticker: BULL). The group operates in 14 markets and has more than 26 million registered users worldwide.

Overall, we think Webull suits intermediate investors best. The platform doesn’t take long to learn, but it is not as simple as the most beginner-friendly apps. In return, you get a lot of features, which we cover in this review.

Webull Securities (UK) Ltd is authorised and regulated by the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority). It acts as your agent and opens your account with Webull Securities (Australia) Pty Ltd, which is regulated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). We explain what this means for your protection in the safety section.

Opening and holding an account is free, and there is no commission on US, Hong Kong and China A shares. The main cost for most investors is the currency conversion fee. Along with its analysis tools (analyst price targets, technical analysis and company fundamentals), Webull offers news feeds, social features and a paper trading account for practice.

Overview

Webull grew quickly in the US and is now available in the UK with a much wider offer than at its launch.

Webull homepage

There is no charge to open and hold an account, and there is no commission on US, Hong Kong and China A shares. UK shares and ETFs cost 0.05% of the trade value, although new clients trade them for free during their first 90 days.

Webull UK has two plans. The free Go plan gives you a general investment account (GIA), US shares, US options, FTSE 100 shares and popular UK ETFs. The Meridian subscription adds UK shares outside the FTSE 100, the full range of UK ETFs, lower currency conversion fees and the Stocks and Shares ISA. Meridian was listed at £0.01 a month when we checked in September 2026.

Currency conversion costs 0.50% on the Go plan and 0.35% on Meridian. You pay it whenever you buy US or Asian shares with pounds.

Webull also works for small amounts. There is no minimum deposit, and you can buy fractional US shares from $5.

The account opening process is fairly simple and done in the app. We waited about 20 minutes for identity verification, and you also need to provide proof of address.

You’ll need to give your personal details, sign a W-8BEN form digitally and set up some security details, such as a 6-digit trading password.

Webull’s customer service team is responsive. When we had an issue with our first bank transfer, we contacted the team through the in-app Help Centre and they sorted it out quickly.

Where Webull really stands out is its analysis tools, the kind of information some platforms put behind a paywall. The data is presented in an easy-to-understand way, with graphs, charts and other visuals. New users also get 12 months of free Nasdaq Level 2 (TotalView) quotes, and you can connect your Webull account to TradingView.

  • Wider UK range and ISA require Meridian
  • No SIPP, funds or bonds

  • Not the easiest platform for beginners

Account types

Webull UK now offers two account types:

  • General investment account (GIA): available on both plans. Gains above the annual capital gains allowance (£3,000) and dividends above the dividend allowance (£500) may be taxable.
  • Stocks and Shares ISA: launched in April 2026. Returns inside the ISA are free from UK income tax and capital gains tax.
Webull UK platform

There is still no SIPP, Lifetime ISA, Junior ISA or Junior SIPP. If you need any of these, you’ll have to use another platform alongside Webull.

Webull Stocks and Shares ISA

The Webull Stocks and Shares ISA is the biggest change to the UK offer since the launch. Here’s how it works:

  • Who can open it: UK residents aged 18 or over.
  • What you can hold: UK, US and other global shares and ETFs. You can manage the ISA on the desktop and mobile apps.
  • Contributions: from £10 at a time, and you can pause whenever you want.
  • Allowance: up to £20,000 per tax year across all your ISAs. Webull points out that you are responsible for tracking your total contributions if you also have ISAs elsewhere.
  • Flexible ISA: according to Webull’s launch announcement, you can withdraw money and put it back in the same tax year without it counting again towards your allowance.
  • Costs: the same trading and currency conversion fees as the GIA apply. Webull’s Meridian page presents the ISA as a Meridian feature, and the wider UK range also requires Meridian.

Webull describes the ISA as suited to a medium to long-term horizon, typically five years or more. As with any ISA, the tax treatment depends on your circumstances and the rules may change, and the value of your investments can fall.

Compared with the GIA, the ISA is the better choice for most long-term UK investors, as it shelters gains and dividends from tax every year. The main gaps remain: no Junior ISA, no Lifetime ISA and no SIPP.

Webull UK welcome offers

New Webull UK clients currently get these welcome offers:

  • UK shares: 90 days of commission-free trading on UK shares and ETFs after opening an account.
  • US options: 3 months with no contract fees after activating options trading (up to 100 contracts). After that, $0.50 per contract applies.
  • Market data: 12 months of free Nasdaq Level 2 data after registering.

Webull also runs deposit and transfer campaigns from time to time. Offers change often and terms apply, so check the current promotion on Webull’s site before you open an account.

Fees

Webull’s fee structure is fairly simple, which makes it easy to work out what you’ll pay to invest in US shares. Here’s an overview of the main fees:

Fee Cost
US shares $0 commission
Hong Kong and China A shares $0 commission
UK shares and ETFs 0.05% (free for the first 90 days)
US options $0.50 per contract
Currency conversion 0.50% (Go), 0.35% (Meridian)
Meridian plan £0.01 per month
Platform, inactivity and withdrawal £0

Webull fees

For US shares, the currency conversion fee is the main cost. On the Go plan, buying £1,000 of US shares costs about £5 in conversion (0.50%), and selling later costs about the same again. With Meridian, the same purchase costs about £3.50 (0.35%). Meridian members can also convert currency manually and hold US dollars, so they don’t pay conversion on every trade.

Other small fees apply, such as US regulatory fees on sales (SEC and FINRA fees), options exchange and clearing fees, ADR custody fees and financial transaction taxes on some shares. Check Webull’s pricing page for the full list.

Markets and products

Webull UK offers shares, UK-listed ETFs and US options, plus a GBP cash savings product. You can place large orders or buy fractional US shares from $5.

You can trade shares on these markets:

  • US: more than 10,000 shares on the NYSE, Nasdaq and other exchanges, including extended-hours trading.
  • UK: shares and ETFs listed on the London Stock Exchange (FTSE 100 shares and popular ETFs on Go, the full range with Meridian).
  • Asia: Hong Kong shares and China A shares through Stock Connect.

Webull also offers a GBP cash savings product.

Keep in mind that fractional shares are only traded during regular US market hours, with market orders only, and usually cannot be transferred to another broker.

In the app, you can easily look at a stock’s:

  • Current and past earnings

  • Income statements
  • Balance sheets
  • Cash flow
  • Peer comparison, to see how a stock ranks against competitors

Webull also has plenty of social features. You can have a custom news feed, create posts or polls and follow other “Webullers” using the platform.

You can’t copy other investors’ trades, but it’s a useful way to learn from others and be part of an active investing community.

You can also view other investors’ posts and see how accurate their past stock predictions have been.

Webull investor profiles

Platform

With Webull, you can trade through the mobile app, the desktop app or the web platform. There is also a paper trading account to practise with virtual money, and an Open API for more technical users.

The mobile app has some features that are not on the desktop, such as the social features and some analysis charts. It is packed with trading features, but it’s not the most beginner-friendly.

Both the mobile and desktop apps are better suited to intermediate and experienced investors. If you’re a beginner, give yourself some time to practise, and consider starting with the paper trading account.

One downside of the mobile app is that finding stocks is not very intuitive unless you search for exactly what you want. The desktop app is easier to navigate, and when you first open it, you can choose a “starter” or “seasoned” investor mode.

Investor type

Choosing the starter mode gives you extra help to navigate the desktop app and set things up.

Webull starter view

Webull is still designed mainly for people who like to trade, and beginners may find the interface confusing at first.

To find stocks, go to the “Markets” tab. There’s a lot going on at first glance, but plenty of useful market information once you get used to it.

The web and desktop platforms look modern, although the interface isn’t the slickest. The amount of functionality makes up for the learning curve.

Safety

Webull Securities (UK) Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) under firm reference number 961286.

There is one structural point to understand before you invest. Webull UK acts as your agent and opens your account with Webull Securities (Australia) Pty Ltd, a related company regulated by ASIC (Australian Financial Services Licence 536980). Client money and assets are kept in segregated accounts, separate from Webull’s own money.

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) covers eligible investment claims against FCA-regulated firms up to £85,000 per person per firm. Because your account is held with the Australian entity, check with Webull exactly which protection applies to your cash and investments before you deposit large amounts. In any case, compensation schemes never cover losses from investments falling in value.

Webull Corporation is listed on the Nasdaq, which means it publishes audited accounts. The UK business has been operating since 2023, so it has a shorter track record in the UK than long-established platforms.

Bottom line

There’s a lot to like about Webull in the UK. It offers commission-free trading on US and Hong Kong shares, strong analysis tools and, since April 2026, a flexible Stocks and Shares ISA.

It still has limitations. The currency conversion fee is 0.50% on the free plan, the wider UK range and the ISA require the Meridian subscription, and there are no SIPPs, funds or bonds. The account structure, with your account held by the Australian group company, is also worth understanding before you invest.

Overall, Webull is a low-cost way for UK investors to access the US stock market, especially if you value research tools and data. We hope this review helps you decide whether it’s the right app for you.
