Fact checked

Capital.com group is an award-winning broker with more than 880,000 active accounts and over $1 trillion in client trading volume per quarter in 2026.

It has low spreads on Forex and stock CFDs and excellent customer support. On the downside, it is still primarily a CFD broker: real stocks and ETFs only launched in Europe in September 2026, and there are no exchange-traded options.

It also may be overwhelming for beginners to get used to, but many learning materials help you get up to speed quickly.

Overview

Founded in 2016, Capital.com is a fintech group of companies committed to building the world’s best trading experience. It uses AI for insight and analysis and integrates with TradingView. The group has offices in London, Limassol, Dubai, Melbourne, Nassau, Warsaw, Sofia, Vilnius and Milan, and reported $1.27 trillion in client trading volume in the first quarter of 2026.

The group entities are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK, the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) in the EU, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), the Securities Commission of the Bahamas (SCB) and the UAE’s Capital Market Authority (formerly the Securities and Commodities Authority, SCA). In January 2026, the group added a licence from the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) in Kenya.

Clients of Capital.com primarily have access to CFDs on shares, indices, commodities, Forex, bonds and crypto (crypto CFDs are not available to UK retail clients). Since September 2026, clients in the European Economic Area can also invest in real stocks and ETFs, UK clients can use spread betting, and EU clients in selected countries can trade knock-outs. See the ‘Products and markets’ section for further details.

  • Extended trading hours
  • Lots of educational content
  • Strong customer support

Cons

  • The product offering is still limited to CFDs in most countries (missing bonds and other real assets)

Account opening

You can open a Capital.com account in minutes once you supply your e-mail address. This will allow you to immediately try out their demo trading platform to test out its functionality. To start trading, you will need to verify your identity and answer a questionnaire. This may take Capital.com up to 48 hours to verify these documents.

The minimum deposit amount is €20/$20/£20 by card, while a bank wire in the EU requires at least €50.

There are multiple deposit methods available to clients, including bank wire transfer, credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal (available in the EEA and Australia, but not in the UK, where instant bank transfers via TrueLayer are offered instead). Card payments appear on your account immediately, while a wire transfer usually takes up to 5 business days. Withdrawals are processed within 24 hours, most of them within minutes.

Retail account holders in the UK, the EU and Australia have access to leverage of up to 30:1 on major currency pairs, 20:1 on major indices and gold, 10:1 on other commodities and 5:1 on shares. Higher retail leverage (up to 200:1 on Forex, indices and commodities) is available through the group’s Bahamas entity, so the cap that applies to you depends on which entity holds your account.

If you decide to open a professional account (subject to specific criteria and only available in certain jurisdictions), there are added risks, such as losing access to investor compensation schemes and negative balance protection, so you can lose more than you deposit.

Trading platform

Capital.com is available via its mobile app, web trader and third-party platforms including MetaTrader and TradingView, plus an API for automated trading.

The mobile app’s user experience is excellent and straightforward to use when you are on the move. Price alerts can be set on any stocks you are invested in or just interested in with a click of a button. You also can opt to have push notifications on your mobile for significant market movements, portfolio-related news, and other important events.

The web trader may be more overwhelming for beginners, but Capital.com has simplified the language and terminology with beginners in mind.

The Discover section is well-designed and gives the user a concise but helpful snapshot of the market. At a glance, you can see which financial assets are most traded and volatile, the biggest risers and fallers, and read the latest news. Since November 2025, you can also set price alerts on the web trader, not just in the app.

The web trading platform has a lot of functionality compared to other brokers, with a wide range of technical indicators available for advanced charting, and it also integrates with TradingView.

Capital.com trading platform

Capital.com also supports MetaTrader, which may be more suited to advanced traders. MT4 is available broadly, while MT5 is offered to EU, Australian and international clients but not to UK clients. The additional benefit is that MetaTrader allows you to highly customise your individual trading preferences and automate trading using algorithms, through Expert Advisors written in MQL4 or MQL5. One limitation worth knowing: the instrument range available through MetaTrader is considerably narrower than on Capital.com’s own platform, so check that the markets you want are covered before committing to it as your main interface.

Investing requires emotional intelligence as well as technical knowledge. Now and then, we all need a little help to know when we are making investment decisions based on emotional biases. Capital.com has integrated AI features into the platform, including an AI assistant and trading analytics that review your trading behaviour and performance to help you make more informed decisions. This may be a valuable tool for new investors to understand better the emotional aspect of investing.

Capital.com’s news feeds are very useful, allowing you to find all the relevant news stories for your research stocks. There are lots of bite-sized stories to help you see what is happening in the markets.

Another useful feature is that you can trade selected US shares outside regular market hours. Extended trading hours on these stocks run from 08:00 to 00:00 UTC (pre-market and after-hours included), and nine major index CFDs can be traded 24 hours a day, five days a week, which suits clients in many different time zones.

In terms of order types, you can execute market orders, limit orders, stop orders, trailing stop losses, take profit levels and guaranteed stop-loss orders on Capital.com. The main order type still missing from the proprietary platform is OCO (One Cancels the Other), though it is available through MetaTrader.

Products and markets

Capital.com’s product range depends on where you are in the world. Its core offering is CFDs on more than 5,500 markets, while real stocks and ETFs are only available in the EEA, and exchange-traded options are not offered.

See below a breakdown of product offerings in each geographical area:

Products Countries accepted
CFDs on shares, indices, crypto, Forex, commodities and bonds Available in all countries where Capital.com operates
*Crypto derivatives are not available for UK retail clients
Real stocks and ETFs (2,280+, commission-free) EEA since September 2026, with the UK and UAE planned to follow
Spread betting UK
Knock-outs Selected EU countries
In September 2026, Capital.com launched real stock and ETF investing across the EEA, with more than 2,280 US and European stocks and ETFs, no commission and execution-only service through its CySEC-licensed entity Capital Com Group Ltd. This turns Capital.com into a more complete option for European clients who want to invest as well as trade.

Concerning spread betting, it is only available to UK clients. Spread betting is a way of speculating on the upward or downward movement of the market, and its key benefit is that profits are currently free of UK capital gains tax (tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change).

Capital.com offers a wide range of CFDs to its clients, including CFDs on stocks, indices, commodities, Forex, bonds and crypto (the last of which is not available to UK retail clients), plus knock-outs in selected EU countries.

CFDs Further detail on each category
Stocks Thousands of US, UK, European and Asian shares
Indices 35+ indices, including the FTSE 100, S&P 500 and Euro Stoxx 50
Commodities 65+ commodities, including Brent crude oil, gold, silver and natural gas
Crypto* 450+ crypto CFDs, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin and Cardano
Forex 120+ currency pairs

*Note for UK clients: the FCA banned crypto derivatives as of January 2021, therefore these are not available for UK retail clients.

Fees

Capital.com charges no commission on CFD trades, and deposits and withdrawals are free. There is no inactivity fee.

Capital.com makes most of its money in two ways: spreads and overnight fees. The spread is the difference in the price you can buy and sell products on the trading platform.

Fees

Overnight fees are charged on leveraged positions held past the daily cut-off. They combine a platform fee of 4% a year with a benchmark interest rate (such as SONIA or SOFR), and positions opened without leverage generally pay no overnight fee.

Two further costs are worth knowing about. A currency conversion fee of 0.70% (0.50% for professional clients) applies when you trade an instrument denominated in a currency other than your account’s base currency, and you can reduce it by holding the relevant currency. A guaranteed stop-loss premium is charged only if a guaranteed stop-loss order is actually triggered, and the amount is shown on the deal ticket before you place the order.

Here’s an example of how to calculate the overnight premium on a long CFD position.

    • Capital Com Online Investments Ltd: supervised by the Securities Commission of the Bahamas (SCB, licence SIA-F245).
    • CC Kenya Securities Ltd: licensed by Kenya’s Capital Markets Authority (CMA) since January 2026.
  • Investor protection schemes: these compensate your investments up to a certain amount if Capital.com goes bankrupt:
    • £85,000 for eligible clients of the UK entity, under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).
    • €20,000 for clients of the Cyprus entities, under the Investor Compensation Fund (ICF), plus additional insurance of up to €1 million per client against insolvency caused by misconduct (not trading losses).

Note that formal investor compensation applies under the FCA and CySEC entities. Clients of the other group entities are covered by those jurisdictions’ own arrangements, which differ.

  • Negative balance protection: this protection ensures you can’t lose more than you deposit to your account (only applicable to retail investors).
  • Segregated funds: Capital.com keeps its clients’ money in segregated bank accounts to avoid any exposure to unexpected financial difficulties arising in the company.
  • Two-factor authentication: an extra login check to protect your account.
  • Data protection: Capital.com places a strong emphasis on protecting your data and information.

Supported countries

Capital.com accepts clients from a large number of countries worldwide. Notable exceptions include the US (including US citizens living abroad), Canada, Belgium, Japan, Singapore, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa, Turkey and Israel. Because the group operates through several entities, the exact list of accepted countries depends on which entity would hold your account, so check before applying.

Customer support

Having strong customer support is very important for any broker. Capital.com offers several resources and options for clients to troubleshoot issues, log tickets and speak directly to representatives.

You can contact customer support through multiple different channels. Capital.com offers live chat, phone, e-mail, WhatsApp and a request form. We have tested their e-mail support, and the replies came within an hour.

They also have a bank of articles on common issues and questions clients have.

Customer reviews

Here is what clients of Capital.com think about the trading platform. It is rated 4.7 on the Apple App Store (UK) and 4.6 on Google Play (from more than 78,000 reviews), and has a Trustpilot rating of 4.6 from more than 15,000 reviews (as of October 2026).

Bottom line

Retail investors have more choice than ever when deciding what broker to trade with. It is essential to consider what features are most important to helping you achieve your investing goals. That may be the products offered, safety, fees, and additional tools to help with your analysis.

Capital.com is a good choice for all kinds of investors: although it may be a steep learning curve for beginners at the start, there are plenty of learning materials and supports to get you up to speed quickly. You get commission-free CFD trading with tight spreads, and EEA clients can now also invest in real stocks and ETFs.

The main limitation to weigh is scope. Outside the EEA, Capital.com is a CFD broker rather than an all-round investment platform, and nowhere does it offer exchange-traded options or real bonds, so you may need another broker for that part of your portfolio.

With the demo account, you can easily explore the platform and determine whether it is right for you.

CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. 74-89% of retail investor accounts lose money.
